Is anyone else planning to be in Chan Chemuyil for Christmas week? CURRENT LIST AS OF 12/19/08 for Festivus: A few last minute additions and an update... Official RSVP's for the Festivus affair are: Jen and Chris – 2 Kathy and Mark – 4 Mark and Rigina – 2 Liz and Russ – 2 plus 2 children Elaine, Neil, Keri (11) – 3 Diane and Mark – 5 John and Chris – 2 Hilary and Sergio, Cooper (19) - 7 Vicki and Curtis, Eryn (15) - 3 Jim Harting and family - 7 Renee and Joe - 4 (more to come?) Linda and Gerald Smith - 3 Kevin, Peggie, Ryan and his wife to be, Audrey, and Anthony and Mark - 7 Heather and Jane - 2 Russ and Lori Ahern - 2 Lori and John Reneke - 2 Ross and Anne-Marie - 2 Jeremy Dutt - 2 Levina and Gary Osberg - 2 Leah K. and Jason S. - 2 Gary Monkman - 6 Engin, Missy, Joshua, Mom & Dad Dolen (Celina & Vural), Great Grandma (just call her that) - 5 Barb, Jen and Laine - 3 Dwayne and Shelly Elson - 2 Nolan, Farrah, two boys (12 and 14) and sister - 5 If you have not confirmed for dinner, please let us know you'll attend for the catering count and provide # for meals. We welcome appetizers and desserts. WHEW! Lots of "nice" folks in our neighborhood made Santa's list. Everyone must have been good this year!

My daughter thinks we should be, but I doubt it. Maybe January or February.

Yes! We are trying to leave here Christmas day or the day after. Planning Christmas Eve celebration here at home with the kids and then hasta luego for us! How about you Jen and Chris?

It is a Mexicana airline flight operated by American Airlines. Hopefully it will be okay! I guess we just need to research baggage since I am not sure whose rules we'll follow.

Island Guy - trying to keep everyone straight with their aliases - is that Kevin? Three weeks will be awesome. We originally were to do the same but now that we're coming in October I guess that will shorten December to just under 2 weeks instead. Of course, now everyone is excited about coming to our casa in Mexico. They better be ready - we may put them to work. [;)] If I recall from a previous conversation a couple of months ago, there were quite a few of us coming then. How exciting that the neighborhood should be quite busy and festive then! Better get my palm tree planted before then so I can string some lights. How fun fun it will be! Now, let's all remember to start marking the calendars when we'll be there! [:)]

You probably saw the Mexicana page listing their limitations. Actually seems quite liberal! http://tinyurl.com/3fg954 The quality reviews are pretty stellar with Mexicana. They offer free alcohol and a meal too for any trips over 1.5 hours, unheard of with US based airlines. Here are some reviews - www.airlinequality.com/Forum/mexicana.htm The problem I foresee is the codeshare stretch for one of the legs we'll be on and it is American Airlines which has totally different policies. AGGHH! I will have to make sure we meet all these requirements and I am sure it will be confusing.

I was watching the news last night and they are predicting that several mergers and bankrupt airlines are coming due to rising prices of fuel. This happened to us, (canada 3000) folded but Sears honored thier travel insurance and paid us back. Our friends wernt so lucky and it was thier honeymoon.

I didn't hear that report, but the thought crossed my mind that this is a real serious threat. My daughter works for Alaska Airlines - they've been very solvent for a long time and have actually picked up new destinations. Let's see how they weather the fuel prices now.

I will not be there on 12/25, a little later in the week for me. I'll be there with my two sons and new daughter in law from 12/30-1/7!!! It will be the first time for the three of them so I'm really needing to work hard before that to get it ready...guess that means more trips to Mexico!!! That works for me!!
